Vesta J. Loudenslager

Vesta Loudenslager, age 81, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Dow Rummel in Sioux Falls. Private funeral services for family and extended family will be 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2020, at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard, with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery, Howard. Private visitation for family and extended family will be Thursday, July 30, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM, at Willoughby Funeral Home.

Vesta Joy Lusk was born October 26, 1938 in Argonne, South Dakota to Eugene and Frances (Olmsted) Lusk. Vesta grew up on the family farm near Howard and attended country school, then high school in Howard. She was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1956. On August 3, 1956, Vesta was united in marriage to George Loudenslager in Howard, with George’s father, the Reverend J.W. Loudenslager officiating. After settling in Sioux Falls, Vesta attended Stewart’s School of Hair Styling and worked as a beautician while George attended college.  George & Vesta lived in Kingsley, IA, Sibley, IA, Grand Forks, ND and Sioux Falls, SD before settling in Brewster, MN where they remained until George’s passing in 2013, after which Vesta resided in Sioux Falls, SD near her family. When not taking care of her home and raising six children, Vesta enjoyed reading, cross stitching, puzzle books, coloring, spending time with her family and traveling with her beloved George, with whom she spent 57 wonderful years.

Those grateful for having shared her life included four sons: Todd (Maggie) of Eden Prairie, MN; Kelly (Jill) of Sioux Falls, SD; Kerry (Doreen) of Sioux Falls, SD; Brent (Amy) of Omaha, NE; two daughters: Heidi (Mark) Black of Sioux Falls, SD; Joi (Mark) Hasz of Menno, SD; a brother: Terry (Judy) Lusk of Rapid City, SD; three sisters: Miriam (Gary) Tripp of Howard, SD; Kristi (Pat) Donahue of Winner, SD; Karla (Jerry) Haas, Canova, SD; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren (with two on the way); numerous nieces and nephews. Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents: Eugene and Frances; two sisters: Roberta (Barney) Mette, Marcia Kidd and one nephew: David Tripp.
