Vernon Leroy Thompson, 83, of Fedora area formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, died Tuesday June 6, 2023 At Bergan Mercy Hospital Omaha, Nebraska

Vernon Leroy Thompson was born October 5, 1939 on a farmstead in Miner county South Dakota to Roy and Grace (Gullickson) Thompson.
Vernon grew up around Fedora South Dakota, Going to, and graduating from Fedora High School.
 
   Vernon was united in marriage to Naomi Deming on October 29, 1960, at the Presbyterian Church in Fedora. He lived on a farm in Miner County and worked on road construction.
He became the proud father of Timmy Thompson on July 3, 1962 and again to Todd Thompson on December 8, 1964. The Family moved to Omaha in 1970 where he got a job as a truck driver for Pamida. Later he moved to mechanics so he could be home with his family more. Vernon had a strong moral compass and beliefs. I can always remember his dedication to his job and to his family (us, many friends can say also) over any of his needs or wants. He was big on what he felt was his duty, and had to be forced to go into rehab after his hip surgery and re-surgery when he broke it before it was heeled, taking care of his mother for years, then, when his wife got dementia he silently, without complaint, took care of her well past what a then 82 year old man should have. Like the actors that played his heroes Alan Ladd, Roy Rogers, John Wayne, honesty, integrity, respect, bravery and a dedication to what’s right were how he measured himself and others. We are grateful he taught these to us, as we are better people for it.  Countless friends, and a family that loved him, will miss him more than can be said. We will shed tears and, oftentimes, a smile and chuckle when we think of you!

Those grateful for having shared his life include his sons Timmy (Kristine) of Omaha, NE.; Todd (Michelle) of Omaha, NE.; Grandchildren Steven, Seth, and Liam; two brothers Dick (Shirley) of Loon Lake WA.; Clifford of Mitchell SD.; numerous relatives and friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Roy (1982) and Grace (2013), wife Naomi (2022) Brother Roger (2007)
