Sister Agatha Marie Sadler, 85, of Albion, NE, who lived her religious vocation as an educator and pastoral minister for more than 60 years, died August 26, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society, Albion, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:30 AM, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard. Interment will follow at the Holy Three Kings Catholic Cemetery in Epiphany.
Sister Agatha Marie Sadler was born as Rita Sadler on January 25, 1937, in Canova, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Harings) Sadler. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1956, and received the name Sister Agatha Marie. She made her first profession of vows on June 21, 1958, and final (perpetual) vows on June 21, 1964.
A graduate of Alverno College, Sister Agatha Marie taught for three years at St. Martin School in Martinsville, WI, (1958-1961). She served the remainder of her ministry in the Archdiocese of Omaha. She taught at St. Mary School in Osmond from 1961-1981, then moved to St. Edward, where she served at St. Edward Parish as parish minister (1982-1999) and at Cloverlodge Care Center as pastoral minister (1999-2010) and pastoral care volunteer (2010-2020). Sister retired in 2020 and served in the ministry of prayer and presence in Albion until her death.
Sister Agatha Marie is survived by her sister-in-law: Bev Sadler of Howard; nieces and nephews; many friends in Boone County, NE; and by the School Sisters of St. Francis community with whom she shared her life for 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother: Donald Sadler.
