Myrna D. Miller, age 86, of Carthage, died Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 3, 2021, at the Carthage Community Center.
Myrna was born on January 7, 1935, in Gary, to Virgil and Louise Kenyon. In 1955, she married Bill Vaden and they had three children. Following the divorce from Bill, she moved from California back to Oregon. In 1969, she married Drexel “Pete” Miller and the couple joined their families together raising a total of seven children.
She and Pete eventually moved to Carthage where together they helped build the Straw Bale Museum, the only originally built of straw museum in the USA. One year at a big event for the museum, she made 120 lbs of buffalo burger for barbecues to be eaten.
Among her many talents, Myrna worked a couple of part-time jobs but was mainly a stay-at-home mom raising the kids.
Myrna is survived by her husband Pete; six children; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Tracy; two sisters; and one brother.
