Marlene M. Breuer

Marlene Marie Breuer, 76, of Madison, SD died peacefully Sunday November 5, 2023 at Edgewood Memory Care in Watertown, SD.

Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard, SD.  Visitation will be at 1:30 at the church, prior to the service.

Marlene was born February 20, 1947, to Vince and Maxine (Clites) Breuer in Howard, SD.  She was the oldest of six children born within eight years. They were frequently referred to as the Breuer Brat’s. She was proud to share her birthday with the youngest child, Cheryl.  Marlene attended St. Agatha Catholic School in Howard and trained as a dental assistant after High School.

Marlene married Robert Remacle on September 3, 1966.  To this union, two children were born, Todd and Kelli.  They lived in the Denver, CO area before returning to Howard in 1981.

Marlene lived in Howard, Watertown and Sioux Falls before moving to Madison to be closer to her grandchildren. Marlene loved and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed going to all their activities to cheer them on and loved to tell you all about them if you happened to be sitting in the seat next to her. 

She loved to socialize and visit with friends. She shared fond memories of flying in her uncle Mark’s plane and hanging out with her high school friends, Marie, and Sandy.  Marlene enjoyed going out on the boat, lying on the fun island, and always had to dive off the diving board if she came across one. She had many friends and family that were always there to help her out, from picking up apples, shoveling snow, yard work, taking her for a ride or just being there for her, for which her children were very grateful.

Marlene is survived by her children and grandchildren. Son, Todd Remacle of Watertown (girlfriend, Kari Gosmire and her daughters, Cassidy, and Halle) and grandson Devon Herman of Virginia Beach, VA. Daughter, Kelli (Brian) Leighton of Madison and grandchildren, Riley and Mason Leighton of Sioux Falls and Kendra Leighton of Madison. Step-grandchildren Tyler(Amanda) Leighton of Elkhorn, NE and Jordon(Danielle) Leighton of Mitchell and their children. Along with her siblings, two sisters, Carolyn(Doug) Jerlow of Wentworth  and Cheryl Laible of Howard. Three brothers, Jim Breuer of Las Vegas, NV, Don Breuer and Gary(Sandy) Breuer of Madison and 7 nieces and nephews that always held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Maxine Breuer.
