Joshua J. Hofer

On Thursday, November 7th, 2019 Joshua Hofer, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 68. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, November 11, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Howard. Burial will follow at the Clover Leaf Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Sunday at the church, with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Josh was born on November 10th, 1950 in Madison, SD to Josh and Elizabeth Hofer. He married the love of his life, Hilda Waldner, on May 27th, 1973. They raised two sons, Josh (Susanne) and Randy (Melissa); and three daughters, Roseann (Jake), Margaret, and Marlene.

Papa Josh’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Josh had a lifelong love of trucking. He loved getting up in the early mornings, sitting behind the wheel with his wife by his side (and get ‘er done).

Josh was known as the pawn shop king in the family. If you needed it, you called Josh and he could find it. He always made sure you knew what a good deal he found for you. There was never a dull moment in the crowd with Josh around; he had everyone rolling with laughter at his jokes.

Josh will be greatly missed by so many with his soft heart and gentle soul.

Josh was preceded in death by his father Josh, mother Elizabeth, and granddaughter Marissa.

He is survived by his wife Hilda, five children, ten grandchildren, three brothers, and five sisters.
