    H. Paul Dillon, 82, of Madison formerly of Howard and Carthage, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Custom Touch Homes visitor center, Madison, SD.

     Memorial services will be 11am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison, SD. Inurnment will be 2:30pm at Belleview Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Howard with Military graveside rites by the Madison American Legion. Visitation will begin 5pm, Tuesday, March 22, with a Prayer service to be said at 7pm all at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard, SD.   

    Howard Paul Dillon was born June 3, 1933 at Denver, Colorado to Walter Howard and Doris Mable (Martin) Dillon. Paul grew up in the Denver area, later graduating from high school. Paul served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, having served in the Korean War. Paul returned to Denver where he was married to Irene Isaacson on August 3, 1956 at Denver, Colorado and to this union two children were born, Carrie Jean and Russell. Paul and Irene moved to Carthage in 1959. Paul then farmed, owned and operated the Blue Bird Café in Carthage. In 1979 they moved to Howard where he worked for Cenex.

    Paul was married to Barbara Callies on December 19, 1990 at Madison, SD. They made their home in Madison and Paul worked and managed the Ramona Bar, later working for Rosebud Cabinets, doing trucking for them. Paul retired in 2003 but worked part-time at the Custom Touch Homes, Madison in their visitor center.

    Those grateful for having shared in his life include his wife Barbara Callies Dillon of Madison, SD; a son Russell (Sue) Dillon of Carthage, SD; a sister Sallie Dillon of Vermillion, SD; a grandchild Matt Smith of Howard, SD; 3 step-sons Chuck (Carla) Callies of La Crosse, WI; Tim Callies of Long Beach, CA; Larry Callies of Bullhead City, AZ; a step daughter Brenda Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

    Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Carrie Smith, a brother Dick Dillon, a sister Pat Stevens and a sister-in-law Shirley Guering.
