Dorothy C. Schrooten

Dorothy Caroline Schrooten, age 97, of Fedora, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2021. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Howard. Visitation with family present will be Monday, from 5-7pm at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard.

Dorothy Caroline Stock was born April 27, 1924, to Otto and Sophia (Allgaier) Stock on the family homestead northwest of Howard. Dorothy attended Monroe District # 30- Country School. She then graduated from Howard High School in 1942. Dorothy was Baptized and Confirmed in Beach United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the church. Dorothy was married to the love her life Eugene Arnold Schrooten on December 16, 1947, in the home of her parents. The couple moved to a farm northwest of Roswell, South Dakota, where she lived the rest of her life.

Dorothy dearly loved her church, as she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was a member of the UMW, helping serve numerous funeral lunches and other church meals. Dorothy also enjoyed bowling, crocheting, baking, and was a member of the Miner County Red Hatters. Most of all she loved spending time with family, especially playing cards with her grandkids.

Dorothy is survived by her son Kenneth Schrooten of Fedora, daughter Peggy Cross of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren Eric (Jenae) Cross of Tea; Cassie (Chad) Ueke of Sioux Falls, Stephanie (Tobias) Stadin of Tea; two great-grandchildren Maddi Jo and Kaylee Ueke (who she called them her Dollies); she is also survived by her sister Virginia Moschell of Howard; and one sister-in-law Lola Stock of Howard, SD.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene (1976); a brother Duane; brother-in-law Alan Moschell; and her son-in-law Mike Cross.
