Mim Fox was born May 12, 1919, in Merrill, Wisconsin. She graduated from Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin and came to South Dakota for teaching opportunities in the early 1940s. She first taught and coached girls’ basketball in Fedora, South Dakota, where she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Fox, and together they had eight children.
Mim returned to teaching in the 1960s in Farmer, South Dakota, where she taught and successfully coached girls’ basketball. Mim loved teaching and had a strong desire to learn, often taking graduate classes during the summer months. She was an avid reader, with her love for reading being one of the greatest gifts she passed on to her children. In retirement, Mim enjoyed friends, playing Bridge, and trying her hand at local casinos. Mim moved to Mitchell, South Dakota in 2009 to live at Countryside Living, and most recently at the Brady Nursing Home.
