Joseph Scott Feldhaus

Joseph Scott Feldhaus, 54, of Howard passed away peacefully at his farm home with family at his side on Sunday, December16, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 2pm with a Scripture Service at 4pm, all the catholic church in Howard. Joe was born February 26, 1964, at St. Joseph Hospital, Mitchell, South Dakota, to Robert and Carol (Sherman) Feldhaus. Joe grew up on the family farm, north of Howard. As a young child he wanted to be outside on the farm and near the animals, especially the cows. The love he had for the farm would continue through the years. Joe attended school in Howard until he left school to help with the family dairy. He eventually took over the dairy operation but would also go on to complete his G.E.D. as an adult. Joe was united in marriage to Laurie Calmus on August 18th, 1984 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard. Together they would have five children. One if his greatest joys was raising his five children and seeing their accomplishments. In March of 2010, Joe would meet Lynette Ellefson who would spend the next eight years by his side. That same March he was diagnosed with Kidney cancer. Even though he spent the majority of the past eight actively treating the cancer, he continued working hard on the farm until the time of his death. In his free time, he loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed working with his family during fall harvest and spring calving. Joe will always be remembered for his selfless, hard working and humble personality. Those grateful for having shared in his life include the love of his life Lynette Ellefson (her children and grandchildren); his five children Lindsey (Aaron) Jeffrey of Howard, SD; Daniel (his fiancé Kyley Nelson) Feldhaus of Ipswich, SD; Robert (Laura) Feldhaus of Huron, SD; Megan (Ricko) Krynauw of Huron, SD; Taylor (girlfriend Kassie Pearson-Brandenburg) Feldhaus of Aberdeen, SD; his eight grandchildren Cooper, Easton, Macie, Gracie, Josie, Reese, Kruze and baby Feldhaus, due in March; his mother Carol Feldhaus of Howard, SD; his siblings Greg (Julie) Feldhaus of Howard, SD; Janet (Marvin) Kizer of Howard, SD; Diane (Dale) Page of Sioux Falls, SD; Roberta Feldhaus of Brookings, SD; Teresa (Roger) Johnson of Canova, SD; Jon (Mary) Feldhaus of Howard, SD; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father Robert Feldhaus and numerous aunts and uncles.
