Agnes Elizabeth (Maier) Ketcham

Agnes Elizabeth Ketcham, 98, of Woonsocket, formerly of Howard, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Prairie View Care Center, Woonsocket. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Artesian, with burial to follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 7pm, with family present, at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard. Agnes Elizabeth Ketcham was born on October 10, 1919 at Brooklyn, New York to John and Kathrine (Fischer) Maier. When Agnes was a small child the family moved to Lindenhurst located on Long Island. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1938. During her high school years Agnes developed a special love of reading, which continued for many years. Her first job was working at a dairy during high school. After graduating she worked as a bookkeeper at Woolworth’s Five & Dime Store, a profession that became her life’s career, as she worked for Macy’s Department Store on Long Island retiring after 25years in 1984. Agnes was united in marriage to Clinton Ketcham on August 24, 1942 at Amityville, New York. Clinton died in 2008. Family time was always a priority for Agnes and many good times were spent together, as they would travel to Maine with friends, family, staying at a lake cabin. Christmas holidays hold a special meaning for Agnes and her daughter Kathy and friends, as they would go into New York City visiting Rockefeller Center and some of it’s highlights. Agnes will forever be missed by her family. Agnes was a lifetime member of Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In 2005, due to health problems she moved to Durham, North Carolina and lived with her son Clinton until 2012. This is when she moved to Howard, becoming a resident of Whispering Winds Assisted Living, later becoming a resident of Prairie View Care Center, Woonsocket in 2014.  Those grateful for having shared in her life include her daughter Kathy (Shorty) Faber of Carthage, SD; two sons Clinton (Ellen) Ketcham of Durham, NC; Harold (Claire) Ketcham of Beaufort, SC; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers John, Joseph, Eugene, Albert.
