Jane Hepner Obituary

Jane Hepner, 73, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Howard, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Village. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethany Lutheran Church, Howard.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Belleview Cemetery, rural Howard.

Jane Marie was born to Marconi and Ada Hauge on May 3, 1950. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Belleview Lutheran Church. Jane graduated in 1968 from Howard High School, where she loved being a cheerleader. She remained close to her classmates and had great fun planning her class reunions. She attended St John’s School of Nursing in Huron, SD and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1971. She practiced as an R.N. for 45 years. Jane had a lifelong passion of caring for others including her family, residents at work and her beloved pets.

Jane attended every activity her kids participated in and was their biggest cheerleader. She was creative and loved decorating for the holidays. Her Christmas trees were beautiful and often became Valentines, St Patrick’s Day and Easter trees. She loved to dance, was a talented seamstress, couldn’t wait to plant flowers every spring. She had a passion for ice cream, chocolate and cookies. She loved sunbathing and travel. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, Harvey, Naomi and Ella. Family was everything to her. She had a lifelong strong faith. Jane fought an almost 10 year battle with Corticobasal Syndrome with grace, stubbornness and enormous courage.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marconi and Ada Hauge and brothers Jim and John Hauge.

Jane is survived by her children Somer (Matt) Sutton of Sioux Falls, SD, Tyler (Tricia) Andor of Colorado Springs, CO, and Tana (Matt) Wallace of Edwardsville, IL;  her cherished grandchildren Harvey, Naomi and Ella; her brother Jerry (Elaine) Hauge and her sister Joyce (Jerry) Colburn; her special sisters-in-law, Verna Hauge and Kay Hauge; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
