I am so saddened with the passing of Buck!  His sense of humor was beyond compare, and I'm so happy I was able to see him for the last time in Madison
in 2012 and share in that humor.  He has now gone to a wonderful place in heaven and we can all be happy for that!  RIP Buck!

I will always think of Buck as Mr. Eggert, my high school math and science teacher, and Coach Eggert, who coached me in football, basketball, and track. I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Eggert. As my teacher, he was very influential in me pursuing a career in electrical engineering. I admire his willingness to serve in various significant community service positions, as well as serving our country in the Guard. He also was an influence on me to serve my Lord in my church. I will have many fond memories of Mr. Eggert as will his family and I trust that you, his family, will take comfort in the fact, as I do, that Mr. Eggert is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, and that one day we will all be together again with Jesus. God Bless You!!! Terry

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate Buck's life. He was an extraordinary man. You are a lucky family! So glad so many of us had the opportunity to get to know Buck throughout the years. He was an amazing teacher and was one to instill confidence into a student like no one could! Even though these times can be sad, it should be like a graduation ceremony for the family. Throw your hats in the air and celebrate all that has been accomplished! I speak only for myself but I don't think anyone would argue that Mr. Eggert was probably one of the best things that happened to any of us in our youth! He was a great man and someday too when I enter heaven I will most be looking for Mr. Buck Eggerts classroom!!

I was saddened when I opened my FB this evening before going to bed and seeing Vernie's obituary notice.  For you Howard folks, Vernie was his name as a kid in Clotho.  I live on the acreage the Eggert's lived on when they lived here.  The Eggert kids were schoolmates of mine in our country school across the road. We played MANY games of Anty-I-Over and Pump, Pump, Pullaway.  Vernie's parents were dear friends of ours and we came to Howard for their 50th anniversary.

RIP, Vernie.  My heartfelt love and sympathy to his family.  It sounds like he was one wonderful man and that does not surprise me at all.  God's blessings to you all.
