Rosalyn Mae (Tyrrell) Mentele

 Rosalyn “Rosie” Mae Mentele, 68, of Howard, South Dakota passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard on Thursday, June 8, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Tuesday, June 13, at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will be from noon to 5pm at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard and resume at the catholic church at 6pm, with a Scripture and Rosary service to be said at 7pm. Rosalyn Mae Tyrrell was born September 19, 1948 to Francis and Lily (Davis) Tyrrell in Huron, South Dakota. Rosie was the sixth child born of eight children. Rosie attended grade school in Yale, South Dakota and finished her education at St. Agatha Catholic School, Howard, graduating in 1966. Rosie was united in marriage to Thomas Robert Mentele on August 20, 1966 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cavour, South Dakota. The couple lived in Howard, where Rosie started out working in various cafes. She eventually started her own embroidery business in 1989. Rosie was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar Society. Rosie will be remembered most for her big smile and sense of humor. Rosie enjoyed canning, embroidering, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of 50 years Thomas Mentele of Howard, SD; her children Terry (Anidal) Mentele of Boston, MA; Lisa Hoffman of Howard, SD; five grandchildren: Kendall (Jesse) of Tea, SD; Nick (Merry) of Sioux Falls, SD; Dylan, Lee and Alyssa all of Howard, SD; one great grandchild: Baylee of Sioux Falls, SD; three brothers: Bernard (Mary) Tyrrell of Sioux Falls, SD; Ronald (RaNae) Tyrrell of Rapid City, SD; Jonathan Tyrrell of Rapid City, SD; three sisters: Denise Callies of Mitchell, SD; Mary Beth (Bill) Coughlin of North Las Vegas, NV; and Kaylean (Bob) Lee of Sioux Center, IA. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Ann Myers.
