Richard Reisdorfer, Sr.

Richard Reisdorfer, Sr., 89, of Howard, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will be 5pm to 7pm, Wednesday, at Willoughby Funeral Home with a Scripture service at 6:00pm.    

    Richard Joseph Robert Reisdorfer, Sr., was born June 12, 1928 on a farmstead near Adrian, Minnesota to Joe T. and Marie (Wieneke) Reisdorfer. Richard was baptized at St. Anthony’s Church, Adrian. Richard attended school at St. Columbia Catholic School in Adrian.

    Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Ebbers on June 7, 1950 at Iona, MN. Richard and Dorothy spent their first nine years farming. The couple had nine children. Richard worked as a milk truck driver, back when they hauled it in milk cans before bulk trucks were used. The family then moved to Howard in 1963. He then hauled Bulk milk and worked for Sherman & Clark trucking hauling feed and cattle. He then started working for Farmers Union Cenex in Howard and retired from there. Dorothy passed away on October 27, 2014.

    Richard was active in the Catholic Church and mowed the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery for numerous years. Richard always loved his family and looked forward to their visits.

    Those grateful for having shared in his life include his son Richard Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; four daughters Jackie (Doug) Lund of Winter Haven, FL; Verna (Norbert) Sonen of Colman, SD; Marlys Reisdorfer of Sioux Falls, SD; Angela (Harvey) Garrison of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Walter (Gladys) Reisdorfer of Faribault, MN; four sisters Caroline Schneider of Brooklyn Center, MN; Ruthanne (Clement) Opatz of Hopkins, MN; Diane Reisdorfer of St. Paul, MN; Katherine Reisdorfer of Minnesota; his estended family Bill, Ramona, Cecelia and Tom Ebbers. and other relatives and friends.

    Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, three infant children, Mary Christie, Thomas, Rita Anne a granddaughter Telesha Garrison and a brother Stanley Reisdorfer.
