Marjorie Genzlinger Obituary

 Marjorie Loretta Genzlinger, 91, of Howard, went to see her Lord, with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Agatha Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm, with a Scripture service to be said at 4pm, all at the Catholic church in Howard. Marjorie Loretta Neises was born September 16, 1926, on a farmstead southeast of Howard to William and Mary (Leider) Neises. The family moved to a farm in the Roswell Township, Miner County, South Dakota.  Marge grew up in Miner County, graduating from Burbank High School in 1944, she then moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked before moving back to Howard. Marge worked as a waitress at the Cozy Café and later as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union in Howard. Marge was united in marriage to Perry Genzlinger on October 5, 1949 at St. Agatha Parsonage in Howard. The couple then moved to the farm that Perry was born and raised on. They spent the next 69 years farming and raising their six children. Marge was a 4-H Leader for many years, she assisted Perry with ambulance director duties and was active in the St. Agatha Ladies Aide. Marge enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, playing cards and bowling. Marge enjoyed baking especially chocolate chip cookies for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marge’s greatest joy was holding the newest addition to the family for the 1st time. She enjoyed attending Achievement Days, State Fair, wrestling matches, basketball games, baseball games, and anything else the kids and grandchildren were involved in. Marge is survived by her husband Perry of Howard, SD; daughters Barbara (Dave Hahn) Genzlinger of Howard, SD; Geraldine (Jerry) Benson of Lennox, sons Larry (Linda Baartman) Genzlinger of Howard, SD; Ray (Kay) Genzlinger of Winfred, SD; Mike (Lisa) Genzlinger of Canova, SD; Grandchildren Jeremy (Heidi) Benson, Sara Benson-Davis, Adam (Alesha Richardson) Genzlinger, Tessa Genzlinger, Allissa Mette, Lindsey Genzlinger, Krysta (Bob) Becker, Nichole (Jake) Ludemann, Austin Genzlinger, Derek (Jackie) Genzlinger, Faith Genzlinger, and Tyler, Jordan, Riley Genzlinger. Great-grandchildren Kassidy, Michailia and Jase Benson, Olivia Davis, Alexia Benson, Sarah, Savannah and Hailey Genzlinger, Braydon Richardson, Kolt and Brooklyn Becker, Lexi and Lydia Ludemann and Maddie Genzlinger; her sisters Dolores Rasmussen; Alice Kaufmann; Phyllis Paradeis all of Howard, SD; a brother Leon Neises of Howard. Sisters-in-law Elaine Neises, Bonnie Burmeister; Ardis Bauer; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Garry (Wanda) Genzlinger; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis (1970), a granddaughter Sarah Genzlinger, two brothers John and Jerry Neises, five brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and five nephews.
