Lila Laura (Malwitz) Hurry, 95, of Howard, South Dakota passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard. A Memorial service will be 3pm, Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Howard. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Lila Laura Malwitz was born December 2, 1921 at Roswell, South Dakota to William and Bertha (Levenhagen) Malwitz. Lila was raised in the Farmer area and attended Burbank School. On November 4th, 1942 she was united in marriage to Homer Hurry at Pipestone, Minnesota. The couple moved to Howard and was blessed with five children, Darrell, Nancy, Brenda, Donna, and Bonnie. Lila cooked at the Howard School for thirty seven years. Lila enjoyed flower gardening, embroidering, playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings play. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Those grateful for having shared in her life include her four daughters, Nancy (Tom) Feldhaus of Howard, SD; Brenda (Craig) Cady of Gillette, WY; Donna (Alden) Boyd of Lake Preston, SD; Bonnie (David) Taylor of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Lila was preceded in death by her parents and husband Homer (1978), a son Darrell Hurry (1944), three brothers and two sisters.
