Karen Lucille Forthman

Karen Forthman, 71, of Carthage, South Dakota, passed away December 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, DeSmet, SD.  A Celebration of Life service will be held 11am, May 25, 2018 at the Community Room, Carthage, South Dakota, with visitation one hour prior to services. The Rev. Rick Senner will be officiating.  Karen was born in Brookings, SD on June 23rd, 1946 to Frank and Lucille Cook.  Karen went to high school in Bruce, SD and graduated in 1964.  She retired from Shin America.  She enjoyed wood working, crafting, playing cards, and being active in the Carthage community.  She was married to Dennis Forthman on March 19, 1988.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kathy; and husband Dennis. 

Karen is survived by her daughter Pam Palmer of Mesa, AZ; step-son Adam (Miranda) Boggs of Custer, SD; and son-in-law Jim Vanderhoff of Linn Grove, IA; and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
