Donald Lee Voeltz

Donald "Donny" Lee Voeltz, 65, of Mitchell, South Dakota went to be with his Lord and Savior, at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell, on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1pm, March 14, 2018 at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard with burial at a later date. Visitation will start Tuesday with family present from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.  Donald “Donny” Lee Voeltz was born June 5, 1952 at Madison Hospital, Madison, South Dakota to Frank and Louise “Millie” Voeltz. He was raised and attended school in Howard. Donny worked for Hegdahl Moving Service, while in school and for several years. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hammer on September 17, 1972 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ramona, South Dakota. Shortly after his marriage he was drafted into the Army. Donny served in Germany during the Vietnam War and was Honorably discharged. He came back to South Dakota where the couple lived on a farm near Ramona. Donny worked for his father-in-law Bill Hammer on his farm and at Gehl Manufacturing. Donny then farmed and worked at Domestic Seed & Supply, later Artic Cat all in Madison. Don was a member on St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ramona. Some of the things Donny enjoyed doing where needle and embroidering, hunting, trap shooting, fishing, taking boat rides with his family especially his grandchildren whom he dearly loved. There was also a special caring love he had for his dog Keisha. Those grateful for having shared in his life include his wife Patricia Voeltz of Mitchell, SD; five sons Jonathan (Brandy) Odegard of Fort Collins, CO; Brian Hellie of Brookings, SD; Brad (Jamie) Voeltz of Crooks, SD; Chad Voeltz of Sioux Falls, SD; Don Voeltz of Mitchell, SD; seventeen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; his siblings Martha Faye Krueger of Howard, SD; Franklin (Roxanne) Voeltz of Austin, MN; Marvin (Shirley) Voeltz of Madison, SD; Karl (Karen) Voeltz of Canistota, SD; Mary Ann (Phillip) Kester of Beresford, SD; Raymond Voeltz of Biloxi, MS; Lisa Jo (Curtis) Brinkman of Maryland Hgts, MO; Tony (Tonette) Voeltz of Marion, SD; numerous niece and nephews, other relatives and friends. Donny was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lois Jane Matson.
